Oral Hygiene

A proper oral hygiene routine is the key to retaining your natural teeth for life.

Your oral hygiene routine should include both at home maintenance and regular check-ups at our dental practice located in Sherwood. At home, your daily oral hygiene routine should include brushing your teeth morning and night, and flossing your teeth daily.

When brushing your teeth, position the brush at a 45 degree angle ensuring that you brush along the along the gum line to remove any debris from under your gums. Brush for at least three minutes in a gentle circular motion to ensure that all accessible surfaces of your teeth have been cleaned.

When it comes to flossing, you don’t have to floss all of your teeth- just the ones you want to keep!

Flossing should be an important part of your daily oral hygiene routine as it removes the plaque build-up from the surfaces of your teeth that cannot be reached by brushing alone. Always use clean sections of floss for each section of your tooth.

Regular professional cleans at our dental practice can help prevent decay and periodontal disease.

To maintain your oral health, you should visit our dental practice based in Sherwood every six months. This allows our dental team and our hygienists to check for signs of decay and periodontal disease in their early stages. During your visit we will professionally clean your teeth to remove the build-up of plaque and tartar you have accumulated since your first visit.
