Crowns and Bridges

Fillings and crowns both restore damaged teeth, but they serve different purposes and are suited to different situations. Knowing which option is right for you can feel confusing, but at Jansz Dental, our dentists are always happy to walk you through your options and recommend the most appropriate treatment for your individual needs.

A filling is generally the go-to solution for minor to moderate decay or damage. It is a straightforward procedure that restores the affected area while preserving as much of your natural tooth as possible. However, there are times when a filling simply will not provide enough support, and a crown becomes the better choice.

When Do Our Dentists Recommend Dental Crowns in Sherwood?

Dr Jansz may recommend a crown if your tooth:

  • Has extensive decay that leaves too little healthy structure to support a filling
  • Has cracked or fractured in a way that puts it at risk of breaking further
  • Has already had a large filling that has weakened the surrounding tooth structure
  • Has undergone a root canal treatment and needs added protection
  • Is severely worn down due to grinding or long-term wear

A crown fits over the entire visible portion of the tooth, restoring its strength, shape and appearance. Modern crowns are designed to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, so the result looks and feels completely natural.
